Celebrate the Small Things
Congratulations! You, and your learner, made it through the year! The end of the year is rough on everyone, and in some ways it is even tougher on our different learners.
Did your child's school have an end of year celebration to recognize student achievement? Did you watch other parents clap loudly as their child was called up for award after award? Did you watch your child shrink as others were recognized? Did you wonder if your child's name would be called?
Our kiddos worked so hard this year, and their efforts didn't always result in 'award worthy' grades. They showed up day after day to do something that is hard for them - and while they struggled, they saw others do the same tasks with ease. They made it, they persevered, so let's celebrate the heck out of that achievement!
None of us can control the outcome of our situations, but we can control the effort we put in. Our kiddos put in a great deal of effort and the more we can let them know that we see that, the better off they will be.
Hug that kiddo, let them know just how proud you are and enjoy your summer together!
